Winter Break!!!

Image
Winter Break is almost here at South Alabama, and I couldn't be more excited! I cannot wait to finally be done with finals and head home to see my family for the holidays. I am also going to meet up with some of my friends from high school which will be super fun since I don't get to see them as often as I would like. Most importantly, though, I will be relaxing over this winter break. Finals week is always a little rough, and having some down time with nothing school-related to worry about is absolutely amazing. I hope you all enjoy your winter break and get to relax while spending the holiday season with people you love.

My Life as a Nursing Student at South Alabama

Image
Hello to all of you future jags! Today I want to tell you 5 things about my Nursing major here at South. 1) The nursing community here at South is so welcoming and uplifting. 2) There are so many great opportunities to make new friends. Because nursing is such a big program here at South, there are plenty of people to meet and become friends with! 3) The professors are extremely encouraging and make you feel like any goal you have is possible. 4) South uses amazing technology while conducting hands-on learning, helping students to better grasp the materiel and make sure they properly know how to do procedures the correct and most efficient way. 5) There are so many great job opportunities after graduating the nursing program and such a broad spectrum of things you can do within the nursing field which totally makes all the hard work worth it!

A Week in My Life

Hey Jags! This week my life is full of activity. Starting with Monday, my day consists of class, work, then studying. The rest of my week typically looks like this as well, but adding in some social time and relaxation is key to staying as stress-free as possible. For instance, on Wednesday, I have my HOSA meeting, which is a club at USA that I joined since it relates to my nursing degree. Attending these meetings are always fun and interesting because I get to meet people from the professional fields of nursing as well as socialize with friends in the club who are also majoring in some sort of health science. Also, I am super excited because this Thursday, South is putting on a spooky night in the Student Center for Halloween!! I love all things Halloween so I cannot wait for this! Then, wrapping up this busy week, Saturday is USA Day here at South. I hope to meet some of you guys while you get to visit this awesome campus! I hope you all enjoy the pictures I have added to give you a ...

5 Fun Facts About Me

Image
Hello again Future Jags! This week I'm going to tell y'all five fun facts about myself! 1) I am a transfer student here at USA. I transferred here after my fall semester of freshman year at a different university, and its one of the best decisions I have ever made. 2) My hometown is Huntsville, Alabama. We like to call it Rocket City though, because it is home to the Space and Rocket Center (which is super fun to visit by the way!). 3) I am a nursing major. This major is definitely not an easy one, but it is one that I am extremely dedicated to, and I cannot wait to start my journey with that career. 4) I have 2 dogs that I love very much, and miss them so dearly since I was not able to bring them with me to South, but they are one of my favorite parts of visiting home. 5) IT'S HOMECOMING WEEK AT SOUTH!!! If you couldn't tell, I am super excited about this one. Because I transferred to South, this will be my first homecoming week here. Saturday cannot ge...

My First Visit To USA

Image
Hello again Future Jags!! My first visit to South Alabama was an experience I will never forget. I started off my college career at another university in Alabama, so I am actually a transfer student here at South. When I decided to come visit, I hadn't registered for any tours or anything like that, but I made an appointment with one of South's counselors. Arriving on campus was amazing. The beauty of the campus immediately caught my eye and at that moment I knew this would be where I was going to transfer. Finding my counselor's office was very simple, and after that I had one of my best friends (who was already a student at USA) show me around campus. Because she was already a student, she was very familiar with campus so having her show me around was super cool. However, if I could do it again, I would plan ahead and sign up for one of South's campus tours. They have so much information about South that goes along with the tour and they are extremely beneficial. I wo...

It's Almost Fall Break!!

Image
Hey future Jags! It's almost fall break here at South Alabama, and to say I am excited would an understatement. During breaks, it is important to make sure you get some well deserved you time. For me, this includes Netflix, Netflix, and more Netflix!! Okay, not too much, but enough to get caught up on my favorite shows. I also love just pampering myself. Getting some inexpensive face masks and other pamper-like products really get me in the relaxation mood. Kicking back and relaxing is super calming and soothing, especially in the comfort of your own home. I know not everyone's relaxation time will look exactly like mine, but finding your perfect type of relaxation will aid in the perfect break from school and get you prepared to go back better than ever!

When Preparing for College...

Image
For all of you incoming jags, I have put together my top 5 things to do when preparing for college. First, make sure you are communicating with your South recruitment counselor, and your current school's counselor. This is extremely important in making sure you get all of your questions answered and clarified before staring college. Secondly, do your research!! Research the clubs at South. We have many to choose from that cover a broad range of interests. Finding an organization that you love is a great way to get involved in college and make friends. Third, make a packing list. This may seem irrelevant, but trust me, its not, especially if you live far from home, like I do, to make sure you don't forget anything. Waiting for someone to ship it for you can be a hassle. Fourth, see if you know anyone that may be going to the same college as you. Making friends before starting college can be great, that way you have a friendly face before you start out. See if there are a...
