What I've Learned About Myself Since Becoming a Jag

Image
Hey Future Jags! Finals week is finally here and I am now officially done with my classes! Since it is the end of the year, I would like to share what I have learned about myself from the 1 and a half years I've been here at USA. I have learned how to be independent. This is really important to me, because in high school, I always had friends in my classes and always felt comfort in knowing everyone around me. College has really helped me learn to branch and out do things on my own, as well as make new friends in classes or during our Jaguar Production events. This new found independent side of myself I know will help me drastically once I get out into the world after graduation, and I will have peace of mind knowing I will be just fine.

Advice I Would Give 17-Year-Old Me

If I could go back in time to about two and a half years ago and give myself advice, I would tell myself to start preparing sooner for college. Waiting until the last minute to prepare for college can cause a lot of stress, and by starting early, you can reduce some of that stress. This includes applying for college sooner, so you have plenty of time to take the next steps. Also, make sure to apply for orientation and housing on time so you don't miss out on the orientation session you want or the housing you want. Overall, getting a head start never hurts, and it is especially helpful when preparing for college!

Getting Prepared for College!

Image
Hey Future Jags! Getting prepared for college is something extremely important to be doing, especially within your last several weeks of high school. Making sure everything is lined up and ready after high school will make for a very easy and smooth transition into college. I have created a list of 5 things that I think are super important for the transition to college life, and I hope they help any of you Future Jags out there who can't wait to be a student here at South Alabama. 1) Meet with your high school counselors. This is important in making sure you know when your final transcript will sent out, and asking any questions you may have before you graduate. 2) Make sure to have your South Alabama recruitment counselor's information on hand for any questions you might have before you get to South. Our recruitment counselor's here are extremely helpful in making sure you get all the information you're looking for. You can find your specific recruitment counselor&

My Favorite Outdoor Place on Campus

Image
It's Spring time here at South, and I couldn't be more excited! I absolutely love the warm weather and being outdoors during this season. My all time favorite place to be on campus during this time of the year is definitely the nature trails. They have several different trails, and they are extremely easy to follow. Along with that, there are informative plaques along the way so you can learn about the plant-life/animal-life that you may encounter along the way. I especially take advantage of these trails when I need a break from studying so I can get a breath of fresh air and take in the warmth of the season.

How I "Give Back" on Campus

Image
Hey Future Jags! It is important for me to not only be involved in a group on campus, but also be part of something that makes a difference in the community. The group I am apart of on campus is called HOSA. This is a health science based club, so we make a point to be at any type of walks for health. For example, the Walk for Breast Cancer is one of the biggest ones we do. We usually split up and either walk with the group, or set up a stand with water and hand them out to all the walkers who pass by. Meeting new faces and being able to lighten up someone's day really makes it all worth while!

A Week In My Life As A Jag

Hey everyone, I hope you have all enjoyed your week so far! My week has been fantastic, and here are some pictures to prove it. My week started off with studying at the library, which was so-so but I usually try to make the best of it. Then came Mardi Gras parade time, which is one of my favorite times of the year down here in Mobile. And to wrap up my already great week, we had USA Day here at South Alabama. I had so much fun getting to meet some of you guys and hope you found you're future home away from home at USA just like it did!!
